GlobalSantaFe Corp., an offshore oil and gas drilling contractor, said Tuesday it launched an internal investigation of its Nigerian operations, specifically focusing on customs agents.
The company said the investigation was launched after Tidewater Inc. and Noble Corp. said they were independently investigating whether Nigerian customs agents affiliated with the company complied with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and local laws.
GlobalSantaFe said both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice have been advised of the investigation, which is in an early stage.
