Siberian Energy Group, Inc. (SEG) a U.S.-based publicly traded oil and gas exploration company with 100% of its assets located in West Siberia, Russia, announced today that Helen Teplitskaia, President of SEG and the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, spoke at a roundtable session at the prestigious Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum, June 8-11, in Russia.
Thousands of elite national business professionals and political leaders gathered at the Forum in an effort to facilitate international cooperation between business and political leaders and academic experts from the world community and to discuss the problems of global economic growth. Leading Russian and foreign economic experts shared their specialist opinions on the most contemporary trends of global economics.
Teplitskaia, who is a leading authority on Russian/Eurasian affairs, spoke at a roundtable on the second day of the Summit, titled "New Players in Old Markets." Teplitskaia's comments focused on reforms needed by Russian companies to enter the global markets, such as enhancing transparency, corporate governance and environmental standards.
"As wealth in the Russian economy continues to grow, so do the opportunities for Russian companies to increase investments in Europe and North America," said Teplitskaia. "Many of these companies have made remarkable progress in moving from administration typical of the Soviet era to Western style management, yet there is often resistance to their participation in these markets, due to perception issues. Greater efforts need to be made by these companies to communicate openly with international markets and the media and promote their efforts to adopt international standards, as well as their track record of success with international acquisitions."
Throughout her career, Teplitskaia has successfully assisted a variety of government agencies and private sector companies with start-up operations in new markets, direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and licensing, marketing research, political interfacing and media relations. Her client base includes the United States Agency for International Development, US State Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, AT&T, Baker & McKenzie, Case New Holland, Gazprom, Gillette, HeidelbergCement, Ingersoll-Rand, Maytag, Motorola, and Pepsi-Cola.
